Thee Latest Upcycled Bags | Before and After Upcycled Sari Clutches and Crossbody Bag

Lately I came across nice Indian sari (or saree) at the thrift store that resulted in three interestingly different bags.

The embroidery is lovely and although some of the beading was falling apart I managed to save what was still intact. Most of the dress though, the burgundy part, was very stained throughout. I washed it but it did nothing to remedy those areas. I could see why it ended up donated and on sale. In the end I made two zippered foldover clutches and a messenger bag, all from this dress along with adding some other upcycled materials like denim and faux leather.

10 Ways and More to Upcycle Pantyhose / Tights / Stockings

I came across this video the other day by the Live Well Network and the Coupon Contessa. It features so many ingenious ways to re-use old pantyhose around the house.

Their tagline:

Run in your stockings? Don't throw them out. With these easy upcycling projects, you can reuse old pantyhose around the house.

Love it! I especially love the idea "for your trash: Instead of buying those expensive garbage bags that have the huggable trash can liners, use the elastic band from the pantyhose to prevent the bag from slipping." I would have never thought of that.
