A while ago I had seen a photo on Pinterest from her posts. Later I took a trip to a local flea market and found these lamps without shades that were perfect for this project.
I had not realized how almost identical they are to the ones used in the inspiration photo. Pretty close right?
So I did the same thing. Took out the wiring, electrical components and cut the cord! Then I spray painted them black to match the solar lamps. I used Rust-Oleum Spray Paint, in Satin Canyon Black.
I hope you give this a try too.
Lovely. Where did you get the solar light parts?
ReplyDeleteI bought them on Ebay. I really wanted white light but settled with yellow because that's what they had in stock at the time. They were inexpensive but the quality is actually good. So far they've put up fine with the weather.
DeleteI love this!!! I will definitely try.
ReplyDeleteYou should! It's totally worth the effort :] Thanks for checking out the post.
DeleteHey, I'm a DYIer wanna be, can a person just pick up a regular outdoor solar light and use or does it have a to be 'special' type. If the latter you say you bought your's on Ebay? Gotta link? This is one project I think I can do :) Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteHi! They don't have to be special at all. They just have to fit in the old lamp sockets. The ones I got, all I had to do to get them to fit was remove the stakes and they fit inside the bulb spaces (I hope that makes sense). I bought these here:

I went to the dollar store, bought path solar path lights, removed the heads containing the solar collector panel(they just come with a little twist). installed in a repurposed chandelier, hang on shepherds hook, viola you have an outdoor light source just for fun. powers up all day then comes on at dark. FUN!
DeleteSuch an awesome idea about the chandelier! Thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteWhat do you use to cover the hole in the base where the wire came out?
ReplyDeleteI didn't cover them up. They're pretty small so it didn't bother me.
DeleteWhat did you use for glass on top of the pole?
ReplyDeleteThe solar lamps come like that so I didn't have to add anything.
