Vintage Finds | Simplicity 7456 Sewing Pattern from 1976 - Toddler's Short Jumpsuit Romper

This is a baby romper I made using this vintage Simplicity sewing pattern and thrifted plaid fabric. I’ve made a variation of this pattern in the past many times for my @fancylittlemoon Etsy shop so I’m quite familiar with it. I did add Kam snaps to the bottom of this one though. Felt cool making it for keeps now lol. I had this fabric in my stash for a long time too so it’s nice putting it to good use. I made a matching baby bucket hat using this pattern by Sweet Red Poppy and adorned it with a cute little teddy face embroidered patch I bought from Chicbaby Studio etsy shop.

Simplicity pattern 7456 is vintage from 1976. It comes in individual sizes. For this particular romper I used the 1/2 size which I assume is like 6 months. I added a tiny bit of length on the shorts but otherwise made per instructions. It's a pretty easy to follow pattern, give it a try.

I put together this lace patchwork and used a vintage 70s Butterick pattern for style/sizing reference.

In its past life: remnants of various floral lace fabrics.

Found new life as: A unique upcycled patchwork lace open cardigan/jacket! All seam inside are serged.

Size: US Medium/Large (please refer to measurements)

Width from underarm to underarm (chest) lying flat across front: 21"

Length from shoulder to hem: 22" (back) - 25.5"(front)

Sleeve length about: 22.5"

New in thee Shop: Upcycled Jean Patchwork Short Sleeve Top

In its past life: remnants of jeans and cotton.

Found new life as: A unique upcycled patchwork jean top! All seam inside are serged. There is a snap closure on the top middle back. There are 2.5" side slits on the bottom hem. (I used Simplicity pattern 8602 for the fit).

I posted this awhile back to my IG. I have a new #workinprogress lol due in October. I made him this onesie with one of my husband’s old button down shirts and used this sewing pattern by Hello Dear Kids in size 6-12 months. The pattern comes in four styles with this being the elastic long romper. I didn't have to make the button placket since the shirt already had it done. I did have to add a metal sew on snap though because it got too thick for a plastic kam snap. This pattern really lends itself to upcycling shirts with buttons.       This sweatshirt was something I hadn't made before. I used Simplicity pattern R11066, a combo of styles a & b, size Medium. For the patchwork I used a melody of gray, black and blue jeans. Some patches have a raw frayed edges on top but inside all seams are completely serged. The kangaroo pocket is a an overall bib that gave the sweatshirt a total of three pockets. I still had some smaller leftover pieces of denim at the end so I made a simple (non-reversible) bucket hat with a matching patchwork. So they could be worn as a set.
